Forgotten Family Photos

Interested in Recollection and Memory Distortion, I have attempted to visually delve into the memory banks of the mind.

Researching into how we rebuild memories and how we lose pieces of these memories along the way, it seems that some of the memory parts remain clear, most of the parts remain a blur, and some other parts disappear altogether.

This series is a representation of old family memories - using deconstructed family photographs. They are pictures that I feel that our minds might construct when trying to recall long forgotten details, but with a remaining truth.

(The final physical images are of three dimensional layered design, using wood backing, layers of photographic paper and transparencies -representing the 'clear, blur and disappear' concepts of our memories, but portrayed here in a flattened representation)
